The Magnet is a type of bait that doubles the chance of finding Treasure Chests (30% chance instead of 15% base). It can be crafted, purchased from Willy's Fish Shop for data-sort-value="1000">1,000g after reaching Fishing Skill Level 9, or received as one of the prizes for winning the ice fishing contest at the Festival of Ice. It can also be received as a gift from Willy at the Feast of the Winter Star, and may randomly appear in Krobus' shop on wednesdays.

Unlike other bait, magnets cannot be used in Crab Pots. Like other bait, the magnet is a one-time use item.

Notes

While the Magnet can be purchased at the Fish Shop for data-sort-value="1000">1,000g, crafting is a cheaper option, even if purchasing the ingredients. In year 1, 5 Iron Ore and 1 Coal cost data-sort-value="900">900g at the Blacksmith (data-sort-value="300">300g per magnet). In years 2+, 5 Iron Ore and 1 Coal cost data-sort-value="1500">1,500g (data-sort-value="500">500g per magnet).
